Colonel Doug Douds, USMC (Ret.), is a professor at the U.S. Army War College. He has served as a strategist and senior speechwriter to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. An F/A-18 pilot and Top Gun graduate, he commanded a Marine fighter attack squadron in Iraq prior to earning his master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and History from Wake Forest University and is working on a military history doctoral degree from Leeds University, England.

Doug is an avid historian and a licensed Gettysburg Battlefield Guide who enjoys leading staff rides – immersive leadership education that uses historic battlefields, at Gettysburg, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Vicksburg and Normandy.
